Sarakiniko Beach on Milos is among the 10 best in the world that travelers should visit in 2025, according to Lonely Planet’s choices.
Milos beach is described as a “Greek wonder”, as the visitor feels like stepping on another planet.
Sarakiniko Beach, the publication states, is characterized by a smooth, white volcanic rock that forms arches, caves and cliffs – all leading to the deep blue of the Aegean Sea.
“There is no sand here, but who needs it when you have such a surreal landscape to explore?”, the publication emphasizes.
The Municipality of Milos “recommends” Sarakiniko Beach as follows:
The most famous beach on the island, thanks to its unique lunar landscape. All-white volcanic rock formations with exquisite deep blue waters. There is also a small natural harbor, enclosed between the rocks, with a sandy beach and greenish-blue waters. The landscape is amazing, with continuous changes in volcanic materials and abundant fossils. Its name is due to the fact that pirates used it as a shelter. (The ship’s moorings are still preserved and carved into the rock.) The whiteness of the rocks and the lack of vegetation create a unique feeling, that you will hardly forget.
