Following an initiative by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, permanent staff is being hired for the first time for the management needs of the country’s protected areas (Natura 2000 network).

These are recruitments in the specialties of environmental sciences (biologists, foresters, agronomists, environmental engineers, geologists, etc.), as well as foresters, guides, administrative staff, and staff in other specialties. With an increased ability of current employees to utilize the experience they have acquired in the relevant procedures.
It is noted that of the 340 positions approved for the Organization, 26 concern people with disabilities (announcement 6K/2024 which is under review by ASEP).
The Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, stated in this regard: “The climate crisis is here and requires drastic policies both in terms of prevention and response. In this direction, we are investing in specialized human resources, with the recruitment of 340 permanent employees, for the first time, in OFYPEKA, for the management needs of the country’s protected areas.
Our initiative for 500, also permanent, jobs in forestry services, involving foresters, foresters, rangers, etc., has preceded this, with the aim of effectively managing our forest ecosystems. The battle against the climate crisis is ongoing, and in order to cope, the assistance of specialized human resources is essential and valuable.”
