The Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini in the Network for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy

The Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini participates in the Network of Cities for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy, also known as “Sustainable City”.

This is an initiative that aims to establish and operate a cooperation network between municipalities with the aim of promoting and implementing actions related to sustainability, environmental protection and the circular economy, as well as innovation in this field. Participation in the network opens up new perspectives for the local community, as it enables the Municipality to co-formulate and submit proposals for funding through European programs, which require group and transnational cooperation.

The European Union, with an emphasis on the interconnection of local bodies and the undertaking of collective actions, promotes programs that cover a wide range of sectors, such as operational and strategic planning, waste management, energy, social cohesion, tourism and rural development, as well as cultural promotion. In this context, the network is a valuable tool for member municipalities to adapt their local policies to new environmental and development requirements, utilizing modern techniques and scientific support.

The Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini, joining this broad network that counts over 80 members from all over Greece and Cyprus, will be able to actively participate in the design and implementation of innovative programs that promote sustainable development and environmental protection. Through collaboration with other members of the network, the municipality will have access to studies, technical support and funding opportunities for projects ranging from energy saving to the promotion of cultural and tourist resources.

Joining the Cities Network for Sustainable Development is a strategic choice that highlights the commitment of the municipal authority to implementing policies that combine economic development with social cohesion and the preservation of the natural environment. At the same time, local identity and cooperation with other bodies, within and outside the Greek borders, are strengthened.

The network covers a wide range of thematic areas, from the circular economy and eco-innovation, to tourism development and social reconstruction, while seeking to promote educational actions and monitor international developments in the field of sustainable development. Participating municipalities can obtain information on best practices and funding opportunities, while ensuring the coherence and interaction of their actions.

The participation of Andravida-Kyllini in the Network comes to be added to a wide range of other municipalities from across the country and Cyprus, as well as bodies such as the National Technical University of Athens and specialized institutes, creating a strong collective that aims to promote sustainable and innovative solutions with long-term benefits for local communities and the environment.

Joining the network paves the way for new collaborations, funding and projects that will contribute to the qualitative upgrade of the region, confirming the commitment of the Municipality of Andravida-Kyllini to a green, sustainable and socially just development.
