Air flights in Greek airports, domestic and international, rose by 5.7 pct to 469,553 in 2016, from 444,249 in 2015, after a 6.98 pct increase recorded in the 2015/2014 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a report, noted that the Athens international airport ranked first, with a share of 38.7 pct of all flights, followed by the airports of Thessaloniki and Heraklion, with 10.35 pct and 10.18 pct, respectively.
Passenger traffic reached 52,992,396 in 2016, up 8.57 pct from the previous year, of which 15,865,911 were domestic traffic passengers and 37,126,485 international.
