Panepistimio, Syntagma and Omonia metro stations in central Athens to close from 10:00 on Sunday

The central Athens metro stations “Syntagma”, “Panepistimio” and “Omonia” will close from 10:00 on Sunday morning, at the orders of the Greek police. Trains will go through the three stations without stopping, ANA reports.

A huge rally is planned in central Athens on Sunday over the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), by those objecting to its use of the name ‘Macedonia’, amid a revival of efforts to find a solution between the two countries. Organisers expect the rally to be triple the size of a recent massive rally held in Thessaloniki with the same demands.
