The exodus of the Athenians for the Easter holiday will start to gain momentum at Greek ports on Thursday (Holy Thursday) with 22 ferries scheduled to depart from Piraeus, 12 from Rafina and six from Lavrio for the islands of the Aegean and the Saronic Gulf, ANA reports.
According to port authorities, on Wednesday 16 ferries carrying 14,954 passengers sailed from Piraeus port, five ferries from Rafina with 2,946 passengers and five from Lavrio with 1,302 passengers.
Greek Coast Guard has taken additional measures to prepare for a spike in traffic at the Attica ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio. Steps have been taken to facilitate travellers while passengers are advised to be at the dock at least an hour before the scheduled departure time.
