The project regarding the upgrade of Kalamata – Rizomilos – Pylos – Methoni road axis, with a total length of 50 km, will be auctioned within the next few days and will be implemented as a PPP, according to ypodomes.com.
The cost of the project is calculated at 200m euros, out of which 20m concern expropriations.
The project provides for an expressway (not a covered motorway) that aims to upgrade the existing axis; i.e. its safety characteristics improving access and contributing to a further development of tourism that has been observed in the recent years. The goal is for the contractor to be awarded in the first half of 2020.
The contractor will undertake the construction, maintenance and operation of the project for a period of 30 years. The first 4 years regard the construction phase and the remaining 26 years the operation and maintenance. The repayment of the project will be made through availability payments.
It should be noted that the relevant tender had been approved earlier by the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
