Pinios river bridge at Tempi in Central Greece reopened to traffic on Monday

The refurbished Pinios River bridge linking central and northern Greece was reopened to traffic on Monday, in the presence of Transport & Infrastructure Minister Kostas Karamanlis, ANA reports.

The historic bridge, constructed in 1960, was situated on the old Athens-Thessaloniki national highway and was one of the largest in Greece at the time, the minister noted.

The bridge is 220 meters long and 14 meters wide and has been reinforced to upgrade traffic load and increase its seismic resistance, while damaged parts have also been repaired.
