Athens-Thessaloniki railway connection is being restored in Greece

The railway connection on the central Athens-Thessaloniki route, which had been interrupted due to the disasters caused by the storms “Daniel” and “Elias”, is being restored, after the arrival, at dawn, of the first cargo train at the Thriasio Freight Centre, ANA reports.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, only freight trains will run on the railway line until December 16, to decongest freight centers as quickly as possible, and from December 16, passenger trains will also be launched, to fully restore the railway service.
