Deputy Infrastructure Minister Christina Alexopoulou, the Regional Governor of western Greece Nektarios Farmakis, and the managing director of Hellenic Railways Organisation met on Wednesday and decided on the temporary closure of the scenic Odontotos rack railway route until problems caused by landslides have been addressed, ANA reports.
The landslides are linked to natural disasters, such as wildfires and floods, that occurred in previous months. They underlined that the measures were necessary, as protecting the citizens’ safety was the primary concern.
