Another modern way to discover Thessaloniki will now be available to residents and visitors of the city, as a new special open-top tourist bus route has been approved, which will offer an organized urban tour of points of particular tourist, archaeological and cultural interest.
The tourist bus, which is scheduled to make a circular route in the Municipalities of Thessaloniki and Neapolis-Sykea, enhances the choices of tourists who wish to get to know the city in comfort and with an accompanied tour.
The starting and ending points of the route are set at the emblematic White Tower, next to Nea Paralia, at a point that has already been designated for tourist buses. From there, the bus will cross central and historic streets, such as Megalou Alexandrou Avenue, Angelaki, Monastiriou, Egnatia and Olympiados, passing through neighborhoods that preserve the special character of the multicultural city.
The route includes stops at key tourist spots, so that passengers have the opportunity to get off, visit the sights and continue their tour whenever they wish. Among the stopping points are the Archaeological Museum, the Church of Hagia Sophia, the Church of Agios Dimitrios, the Byzantine Castles in the Upper Town, the Arch and the Rotunda, as well as key points on Egnatia and Eleftherios Venizelos.
With a total route length of approximately 14.5 kilometers, this new route aspires to be an attractive alternative for visitors who wish to get to know the city easily, have a panoramic view of the historical and modern center and combine the tour with free time to explore the neighborhoods and sights.
The addition of this new line is expected to further enhance the tourist profile of Thessaloniki, which in recent years has been systematically investing in quality services and special forms of tourism, in order to offer its visitors a comprehensive and experiential experience.
