The Municipality of Rethymno invites all adult residents and visitors to try out the free automated public electric bike-sharing system.
The bike-sharing service is a modern and practical option for everyday urban travel, offering an easy and immediately accessible solution to all adult citizens. The central goal of the service is to promote cycling as an alternative, economical, and environmentally friendly means of transport. Using bicycles significantly reduces pollutant emissions, helps ease traffic congestion, and supports a greener, more sustainable way of moving around the city. At the same time, it encourages citizens to adopt more ecological choices and highlights the importance of micromobility in urban areas.
Additionally, regular use of bicycles has multiple health benefits, as it provides physical exercise and contributes to overall fitness. Thus, the service not only facilitates transportation but also acts as a tool for promoting a healthier lifestyle.
The Municipality of Rethymno’s public electric bike system consists of a total of forty-four (44) specially designed electric bicycles. These bikes will be available for use by individuals over the age of 18, through the easybike Rethymno app, which is available on both the Play Store and Apple Store for Android and iOS devices.
