Bolt expands its services in Crete

Bolt, the leading European platform in the field of urban transportation, is launching its presence in Crete, starting from Hersonissos and gradually expanding its ride-hailing services on the island, in collaboration with local licensed taxi drivers. At the same time, it is also introducing the Flight Tracking function at Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis”.

Recognizing that Crete is one of the most important and attractive destinations in Greece and the Mediterranean, Bolt’s goal is to offer, both residents and visitors to the island, more transportation options and the unique Bolt experience with speed, transparency in charges and security on every route.

At the same time, the new partnership gives impetus to the industry, creating new sources of income for local taxi drivers. Through their partnership with Bolt, professional drivers in Crete have the opportunity to gain access to Bolt’s expanded, international customer base, as well as to utilize modern, digital tools that improve efficiency, reduce waiting times and increase their revenues. At the same time, passengers enjoy the convenience offered by the Bolt application, knowing in advance the cost of the trip and having the certainty of reliable and safe services.

“Crete uniquely combines the characteristics of a dynamic tourism industry with a simultaneously vibrant local community, regardless of seasonality and we are particularly pleased to continue our development in Greece, introducing Bolt to the island, strengthening these characteristics with our know-how. Through our presence and activity, we want to support professional taxi drivers, giving them more choices, while offering residents and visitors a modern, safe and transparent way of transportation. At Bolt, we believe that collaboration and technology can evolve urban transportation, for the benefit of all,” emphasizes Mr. George Xenokratis, Senior Manager Public Policy EU at Bolt.

Furthermore, in order to meet the increased demand for transportation to and from the airport, Bolt is also introducing the Flight Tracking function at Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis”. This feature allows the automatic synchronization of the pickup time with the actual arrival and departure times, providing drivers with real-time information, in order to ensure immediate service to the passenger, even in cases of delays or changes. In this way, waiting time is significantly reduced and the transportation experience to and from the airport becomes more comfortable, direct and reliable, for the benefit of both travelers and residents and businesses of Crete.

Passengers can rent a ride easily and simply through the Bolt application.

Bolt launched its operations in Greece at the end of January 2025, aiming to transform urban mobility by integrating shared mobility solutions into the country’s existing transport network. Through its collaboration with licensed taxi drivers, Bolt is shaping an accessible and reliable urban mobility ecosystem, tailored to the needs of residents and visitors of Athens and now Crete.
