Cruise ship arrivals at Greek port of Piraeus up 85% in January-August 2023

Cruise ship arrivals were up 85% in January-August 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 in the port of Piraeus, one of the top cruise ship port destinations in the Mediterranean, the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) said on Thursday, ANA reports.

Specifically, cruise ship passenger traffic in Jan.-Aug. was 928,357 compared to 500,905 in the same period in 2022, with 78% of ships and 55% of passengers homeporting (round trip from the same port). There were 478 cruise ship arrivals in those eight months in 2023, compared to 419 in 2022, an increase of 14%.

PPA had its own pavilion in the European trade show “Cruise & River Cruise Convention 2023” of Seatrade Europe, which was held on September 6-8 in Hamburg.
