Athens Airport launches off-airport check-in for cruise passengers in Greece

Aiming to enhance and simplify the travel experience for cruise passengers arriving or departing by flight from Athens, the Athens International Airport (AIA) is introducing an off-airport check-in service starting this Saturday, ANA reports.

This new service links AIA with the Piraeus Cruise Terminal in collaboration with ground service providers Skyserv and Swissport Greece and with support from Piraeus Port.

On departure days, passengers will have the opportunity to take short excursions within or near Attica, including visits to central Athens.

Under the “off-airport check-in” procedures, cruise passengers arriving in Athens will board a shuttle bus directly to be transported to their cruise ship. Skyserv and Swissport Greece will independently handle their luggage using trucks that access the apron adjacent to the aircraft.

Similarly, when departing Greece, cruise passengers will receive their flight boarding passes upon disembarking from the ship. Identified luggage will be transported from Piraeus by trucks directly to the airport apron, where it will undergo necessary security X-ray screening before being loaded onto the aircraft.
