A permanent priority for the Mykonos Port Fund is the strengthening of port infrastructure with the aim of improving service to cruise ships and their passengers at a time when Mykonos is experiencing increased momentum in the cruise sector.
In this context, tender procedures are already underway for the upgrade of the bumper system, as well as for the supply of covers and gratings made of FRP material of various dimensions in the cruise ship berthing area at the island’s port.
At the same time, the damage caused by the recent natural disaster has been immediately repaired, while new ramps are currently being constructed in the passport control area (Schengen), with a simultaneous widening of the existing ramp at the fishing shelter.
Earlier, the expansion of the parking area for tourist buses had been completed in order to better serve cruise ship passengers, as well as other upgrading interventions in critical port infrastructure.
For the implementation of these projects, the President of the Mykonos Port Fund, Mr. Athanasios Kousathanas – Megas, had a series of contacts at the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy since the beginning of the year with the Secretary General of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments, Mr. Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, in the presence of the Advisor to the Ministry, Mr. Alexandros Vassilakis. The aim of the contacts was to promote issues concerning the island’s port facilities and to ensure the financing and technical support of the projects.
