Cruise Record in Katakolo in 2025 – 265 Ships Expected

With 265 cruise ship arrivals scheduled for 2025, Katakolo is dynamically establishing itself as one of the most popular cruise stations in Greece. These figures were presented by the Mayor of Pyrgos, Stathis Kannis, speaking at the “Attica Green Expo 2025” exhibition.

According to the Mayor, the upward trend is steady, as from 217 arrivals in 2024, a jump to 265 is expected this year, while for 2026, the first estimates speak of 320 to 330 arrivals, numbers that demonstrate the ever-increasing appeal of the destination, as it is emphasized.
Katakolo, with its special profile as a seaside village and natural gateway to Ancient Olympia, is emerging as a solid choice for major cruise companies. As Mr. Kannis noted, “our historic port has a strategic advantage, offering passengers the experience of a short, yet thrilling journey to the cradle of the Olympic Games.”

The Municipal Authority’s goal, as he underlined, is to substantially strengthen the local economy, not only by increasing the number of ships, but mainly by increasing per capita passenger consumption through actions that strengthen visitors’ connection with the local market, cultural heritage, and authentic hospitality of the region.

At the same time, the Mayor stated that the Municipality is working to improve the port’s infrastructure, so that it is accessible, friendly, and attractive for companies and visitors. “Cruising can be a permanent driver of development for our place. And this is no longer a perspective, but a reality that is built with a plan,” he emphasized.
