New prospects for the development of cruises in Patras and Achaia are being created by the cooperation of the Chamber of Achaia with the Region of Western Greece. The common goal is the integration of the region into the international cruise map, with multiplier benefits for the local economy.
The Chamber of Achaia participated in the international conference “Seatrade Europe 2025” in Hamburg, represented by its vice president, Antonis Kounavi, and the organization’s Project Manager, Achilleas Kallimopoulos. The mission aimed to exchange views with representatives of international cruise companies and to explore collaborations that can support the development of activity in Patras.
On the sidelines of the event, important contacts were made with representatives of major shipping companies, with Mr. Kounavi emphasizing that Patras has all the comparative advantages to become a cruise port, as long as there is systematic work and strategic planning. As emphasized, the momentum that is developing will be strengthened through cooperation with the Region and the support of all stakeholders.
The Region of Western Greece and the Chamber of Achaia are now planning joint actions to improve port infrastructure, enhance sustainability and upgrade hospitality services, with the aim of attracting more and more cruise ships to the region.
