The Corfu Port Authority (O.L.KE. S.A.) continues its impressive upward trajectory as one of the most dynamic maritime hubs in the Eastern Mediterranean. The latest data released today show strong growth in cruise traffic and strengthened ferry connections with Igoumenitsa, Albania, and Italy, with the port further consolidating its position in the Adriatic’s tourism and transport landscape.
During the ten-month period January–October 2025, cruise traffic in Corfu recorded a strong upward trend, with total passengers reaching 845,744, compared to 781,444 in the same period of 2024, marking an increase of 8.23%. At the same time, transit passengers reached record levels for the period, totaling 649,987 compared to 585,387 last year, an increase of 11%. Cruise ship calls for the same period amounted to 428, up from 409 in 2024, while an additional 51 calls have already been scheduled for November–December, supporting efforts to extend the tourist season and providing a significant boost to the local economy.
The new cruise season at Corfu Port begins on January 2, 2026, with a cruise ship carrying 2,679 passengers, inaugurating a year that is expected to be extremely positive, with more than 500 scheduled calls.
Ferry traffic also rising
During the same period, ferry traffic once again proved to be a stable pillar of development, with passenger flows significantly enhancing the port’s cross-border character. Traffic shows steady and healthy growth, with Corfu now functioning as a regional hub serving both tourism and daily transport needs.
On the Corfu–Igoumenitsa route, which remains an important daily transport corridor, a small but steady increase was recorded. Disembarked passengers reached 791,494 compared to 785,796 in the same period of 2024 (+0.73%), while embarked passengers rose to 776,392 from 773,212 (+0.41%).

The upward trend is even stronger on the connection with Albania, which has emerged as one of the fastest-growing maritime routes in the region. Disembarked passengers surged to 327,360 from 272,694 (+20.05%), while embarked passengers rose to particularly high levels, reaching 318,718 compared to 245,243 in the first nine months of 2024 (+29.96%).
The Corfu–Italy route presents a mixed picture, with disembarked passengers showing a slight decline compared to the same period last year, at 32,493 from 38,155 in 2024 (–14.84%), but embarked passengers increased significantly, reaching 33,458 from 26,421 (+26.63%).
Dimitris Apergis, CEO of O.L.KE. S.A., stated: “This year’s performance of the port clearly reflects what we have been consistently building over the past years. Corfu is evolving into a port that not only serves the region but plays a leading role in the Adriatic. The cruise and ferry data demonstrate that our port has dynamism, resilience, and potential. We continue to work on upgrading modern services and infrastructure, so that every ship and every passenger arriving here encounters a port that reflects the quality and character of Corfu.”
