Hellenic Seamen’s Federation declared a 24h nationwide strike on Monday, May 1 to mark May Day and ask for the safeguarding of the Greek seamen’s fundamental labour rights.
Ferries will remain docked in all Greek ports as the strike will run from 00:01 to 24:00.
The federation demands that their labor and social security rights are restored to pre-memorandum levels and that collective labor agreements will be in effect for workers of all categories of ships for 2017 and protest against uninsured labor and increased unemployment in their sector.
Passengers who have reserved ferry tickets are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information as those whose trip is cancelled due to the strike are entitled to a full refund.
