Ioannina Hoteliers' Association: Waiting for the seaplanes…

The Ioannina Prefecture Hoteliers’ Association (EXNI) expresses its strong concern about the delay in the resumption of seaplane flights, noting that the tourist season is already underway and the missed opportunities are multiplying.

As the Association emphasizes, although it was announced that the first commercial routes would start on June 16, the necessary permits have not been issued to date. “If the procedures are not initiated immediately, this year is in danger of being lost forever,” they specifically state.

EXNI recalls that the previous seaplane venture (2004-2009) was crowned with success, with more than 15,000 flights being carried out without problems. A model that, as emphasized, could act as a guide for today’s restart.

The Union calls on the relevant ministries to intervene immediately in order to overcome bureaucratic obstacles. As it notes, the operation of seaplanes is not only an alternative form of transportation, but a strategic development tool, especially for areas with limited access, such as Epirus and the islands.
