Waterway at Skyros island to boost tourist flows in the wider region

SKYROS, Greece – The waterway at Skyros island, scheduled to be operational within 2019 by Hellenic Seaways, is expected to boost tourist traffic in the wider region of Sporades Islands and Evia, pointed out Skyros Mayor Miltos Hatziyiannakis to Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Thursday.

In a statement, the mayor noted “we are proud that the waterway will operate at our island, creating multiple growth benefits for the whole region.” He also announced that the island of Skyros has posted a 40 pct increase in the tourist flow in the last four years.

According to him, “the new waterway is the first step in the strategic link project between Skyros and ports of Evia and the rest of Greece, by establishing a comprehensive and attractive tourist product for the region of Evia, to which Skyros belongs.”
