Greek port of Patras signs concession deal for seaplane services

Patras Port Authority SA (PPA) signed a consignment agreement with Patras Waterdromes LLC, which will manage and operate waterplane facilities and services at Patras, a major port of central Greece, on Wednesday, according to ANA.

Patras Waterdromes is affiliated with the Greek Water Airports company, which “has already completed licensing services for the waterdrome of Corfu, Paxoi, and Patra has undertaken similar activities for 34 more waterdromes,” according to its site.

The concession is for 12 years, and the seaplane base is in the northern section of Patras port. PPA will provide use of a building for passenger and administrative use by the managers that includes areas for issuing and checking tickets, waiting lounges, areas for passenger and luggage check-in, and a furnished office for administration and security. It will also provide a floating pier for the safe tying of seaplanes.
