The heart of Greek mountaineering beats in Vasilitsa

In Vasilitsa, Grevena, at the crossroads of mountains and people, the heart of Greek mountaineering will beat this year. From July 18 to 20, 2025, the region will host the 83rd Panhellenic Mountaineering Meeting, an institution that every year unites mountain lovers from all over Greece in a great celebration of nature, history, and community.

This year’s event has a special character, as it coincides with two important anniversaries: 50 years since the creation of the European Trail E6, which also crosses Pindos, and 50 years since the founding of the Grevena Ski Mountaineering Association, an association with a decisive contribution to the promotion of the mountainous identity of the region.

The highlight of the three-day event will be the anniversary hike on Saturday, July 19, along the historic E6 trail, from Vasilitsa to Avdella – a symbolic route that honors both the natural and cultural journey of these 50 years.

Participation is free and is open to all those who love the mountains, hiking, and mountain life. With scenes in nature, exchange of experiences and human encounters on the slopes of Pindos, Vasilitsa will be transformed into a meeting point for people, generations, and stories written at the height of the peaks.
