These are the 10 most bike-friendly cities in Europe

According to a recent article by Cond? Nast Traveller, exploring new cities can be done in many ways, but more and more travelers are turning to cycling to better experience urban landscapes. Getting around by bike allows you to see the sights from a different perspective, while at the same time combining exercise with discovery, as the famous magazine explains.

DFDS has compiled a guide to the 10 most bike-friendly cities in Europe, evaluating infrastructure, topography, weather conditions and visitor interest. The assessment includes factors such as the availability and cost of public bikes, demand through Google searches, two years of historical weather data, as well as the flat or hilly morphology of the city – a fact that significantly affects the experience for cyclists.

Although Amsterdam is synonymous with cycling, it doesn’t take first place. The Dutch capital ranks fourth thanks to its extensive network of cycle paths, parks and canal routes, which exceed 400 kilometers.

The most bike-friendly city in Europe is Paris, with more than 1,000 kilometers of cycle paths, offering a wide variety of routes for every type of cyclist. In second place is Munich, where many routes start from the city center, offering quick and comfortable rides. Helsinki takes third place, with the bike center in T??l?nlahdenpuisto park providing maintenance services and advice on the best routes in the city.

Other cities that stand out for their cycling experience include Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Lyon, Stockholm, Ghent and Lille, creating a list of destinations that combine culture and comfort for cyclists.

The publication of the guide by Cond? Nast Traveller highlights the growing trend of travelers seeking sustainable and flexible transportation options in Europe, while offering the opportunity to experience cities at a slower, more personal pace and with direct contact with the streets, parks and neighborhoods.
