The tournament will be held from November 1 to 8 at the Telecom Center of OAKA, with the matches broadcast in more than 130 countries
Athens is hosting, for the first time in 30 years, an ATP tennis tournament, with the organization of the “Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship ATP 250” which will be held from November 1 to 8 at OAKA.
The Region of Attica is a main sponsor of the event, confirming the strategic choice of Regional Governor Nikos Hardalias to support actions that enhance the extroversion of Metropolitan Attica through sports and tourism.
This is a world-class event that brings top tennis players to Attica and puts our country back on the international map of this great sport – a fact that was also highlighted during the recent meeting between the Governor of Attica and the Tournament Director, Djokovic, at the Regional Administration.
The tournament matches will be broadcast in more than 130 countries, while more than 2,500 tennis fans are expected in the Greek capital.
It is noted that the Attica Region, through a comprehensive intervention program of 5.7 million euros, has contributed decisively to the upgrade of the OAKA infrastructure, the improvement of energy efficiency, the aesthetic renewal of the spaces and the enhancement of the functionality of the emblematic complex – after 20 years in which no substantial intervention had been carried out.
The Region’s support for the “Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship ATP 250” event is part of the overall strategy to promote Attica as an international sports tourism destination, with modern facilities, high-level events and an emphasis on the values ??of participation, effort and fair play.
As Mr. Hardalias stated: “The return of an ATP tennis tournament to our country, after thirty years, is a top event for Greek sports and a great honor for our Attica.
The Region of Attica happily and proudly supports the “Hellenic Championship ATP 250”, an international event that showcases our country throughout the world.
In fact, the fact that the tournament is being hosted in the renovated OAKA, a space that is radically changing its appearance thanks to our interventions, symbolizes exactly what we are striving for: a modern, extroverted Attica and a protagonist in every major event.
I invite all friends and fans of sports to give a dynamic “presence” and to experience together the magic of tennis up close, in an event that brings our Metropolitan Attica back to the center of global interest.”
