Travel agents’ introduction to Kalamata

A familiarization trip for tour operators from Northern Greece and the Balkans is scheduled to take place in Kalamata from February 18 to 20, as part of the tourism promotion of the municipality of Kalamata.

In particular, the travel agents, who are expected to be up to 28 people, will discover the authentic charm and multidimensional identity of Kalamata and the Southern Peloponnese more broadly, as they will have the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region, through tours of emblematic monuments and sights. Among other things, the tours and transfers of the tour operators include the city of Kalamata, the Kalamata – Ancient Messini route, as well as the Kalamata – Athens route.

At the same time, tour operators will experience the unparalleled natural beauty of the region, from the slopes of Taygetos to the golden shores of the Messinian Gulf, enjoy the excellent Messinian gastronomy, and taste local products, such as the famous PDO Kalamata Olives, PDO Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and PDO Sfela Cheese.

They will also participate in targeted B2B meetings, where they will come into contact with local travel agencies and hotel businesses, creating strong professional relationships.

According to the Municipality of Kalamata, the familiarization trip has been designed to combine authentic experiences, networking, and business opportunities.

Furthermore, through corresponding actions, the municipality of Kalamata aspires to highlight the region as the core of the Southern Peloponnese and an ideal destination, both for summer and thematic visitors, enhancing the extroversion and dynamics of the region on the tourist map and to promote the destination “Kalamata” as one of the most hospitable and diversified in Greece.

The plans for the Kalamata airport

It should be noted that at the Kalamata airport, the contractor Consortium FRAPORT AG- DELTA AIRPORT INVESTMENTS SA- PILEAS SA, is expected to implement investments of 28.3 million in the coming years. euros, which include, among other things, renovation and modernization projects of existing facilities, expansion and modernization of the airport terminal and construction of a new aircraft parking area in the expropriated section of approximately 50 acres, information technology infrastructure (IT Infrastructure), Duty-Free shops and catering outlets.
