The Hellenic Asset Development Fund (TAIPED)/Growthfund announces the launch of an international competitive bidding process for the granting of the right to use, operate, manage, and exploit the Kalamaria Marina.
The bidding process will take place in two phases, with the deadline for expressing interest set for February 27, 2026. The duration of the concession is at least 35 years, with an option for the Growthfund to extend the concession period for an additional 10 years, at most.
Kalamaria Marina is located on the eastern coast of the Thermaic Gulf, on the waterfront of the Municipality of Kalamaria, 10 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki and 9 kilometers from Macedonia Airport. It is the only operational tourist port in the metropolitan area of Thessaloniki. The marina has a capacity of 242 berths for vessels up to 30 meters in length, while the total land area of the marina covers 76,210 square meters.
For the development of the tourist port, the Growthfund has prepared a Strategic Development Plan (Master Plan), which was approved by a Presidential Decree (PD) from the Council of State in 2023. The spatial planning of the marina was completed with a joint decision by the Ministers of Environment and Energy and Tourism in October 2025, which approved the environmental terms of the project.
According to the Presidential Decree, the marina allows for, among other uses, tourism, leisure, and land-based storage and maintenance of vessels. It also includes the creation of outdoor spaces, walking and sports paths, and green areas, which will be freely accessible to all.
The plan also includes increasing the marina’s capacity to 327 berths for recreational vessels up to 40 meters in length.
