Two new parliamentary interventions on the Aretsou Marina

The issue of Aretsou Marina has returned to Parliament, immediately following the unexpected announcement by the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP) of the tender for its concession, with two parliamentary interventions by MPs requesting answers from the government regarding the timing of the international tender, the procedure followed, and the institutional safeguards for the marina’s sustainability.

The MP for Kilkis from PASOK – Movement for Change, Petros Pappas, submitted a Parliamentary Question to the Minister of National Economy and Finance, raising the issue of the sudden launch of the tender while critical judicial proceedings are pending before the Council of State and while an institutional dialogue with the Municipality of Kalamaria is ongoing. Through his intervention, he asks for clarification on why the process moved forward before the completion of dialogue and judicial rulings, how the substantive role of local government is ensured, and whether the Ministry intends to suspend or reconsider the tender by incorporating the decisions of the Municipal Council and the positions of the local community.

At the same time, the MP for Thessaloniki A and Spokesperson for the Democracy Movement, Michalis Chourdakis, submitted a Parliamentary Question to three Ministers (National Economy and Finance, Environment and Energy, and Tourism). In his question, he seeks answers as to why HCAP did not wait for the completion of judicial proceedings, why it did not inform the Municipality of Kalamaria, and why it proceeded with the tender while dialogue between the two sides is still underway.

The municipal authority of Kalamaria expresses its satisfaction with the new parliamentary interventions, the fourth and fifth within a one-month period concerning the issue of Aretsou Marina.

The Municipality of Kalamaria, as it emphasizes, remains firm in the decisions and “red lines” set by the Municipal Council and will continue to pursue, through every institutional means, a future for Aretsou Marina that serves the public interest and local development.
