Chalkida: Environmental Conditions for the Tourist Marina in Vourkari with 113 Berths

The Directorate General for Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Environment and Energy has recommended the approval of the environmental terms and restrictions for the operation and construction of ancillary works for the tourist marina in Vourkari, Chalkida.

The project concerns the operation of the tourist marina in Vourkari, Chalkida, and the construction of accompanying works to create a modern tourist port with a capacity of 113 berths for medium- and large-sized recreational vessels. The marina is located in the “Vourkari” bay, south of the Evripos Strait, in direct proximity to the facilities of the Chalkida commercial port (within the port’s land zone). The project covers both completed and remaining works of the marina.

The completed works of the tourist port include quays with a total length of 326 meters, three floating piers each 180 meters long and 3 meters wide, a medium-voltage substation, lighting for the quays, parking areas and roads, water supply, electricity, and telephone connections at berths, a public-address system, as well as a fire-fighting network and tank.

The remaining works of the marina include the extension of two of the three piers by 20 meters each, a 70 m² administration building with offices, sanitary facilities, and auxiliary spaces, 60 m² pergolas, a 26 m² food and beverage building with semi-outdoor and outdoor dining and recreational areas, a 120 m² pergola, development of an area for 58 vehicle parking spaces and landscaping of the surrounding area, a 367 m² dry dock area for emergency storage of vessels, a fuel supply station, and a facility for the collection of wastewater and oily residues from boats.

The total land area of the marina amounts to 7,635 m², and the sea area covers 29,712 m², with plans to rationalize and extend the sea zone to 30,660 m². The location of the tourist port is not within declared archaeological sites, terrestrial or underwater, nor within historic sites or monuments.
