Variety Cruises, a third-generation family business with 75 years of experience in small ship shipping, was honored with the prestigious Passenger Line Award, sponsored by SWS, at the Hellenic Shipping Awards 2024. The award was presented by Mr. Chen Gang, President of SWS. The award highlights the company’s pioneering role in small-ship adventures and its commitment to creating meaningful connections between travelers and destinations.
Philippos Venetopoulos, CEO of Variety Cruises, accepted the award on behalf of the company and attributed the recognition to the dedication of his team and the company’s enduring mission: “I would like to thank our team, whose hard work and passion made this achievement possible. This award celebrates 75 years of exploring the world by small ship, showcasing the treasures of Greece—seas, islands and culture. Variety Cruises is dedicated to showcasing Greece’s competitive advantage, its hidden treasure, the myth of the Greek islands.”
Founded in 1949, Variety Cruises has become a global leader in boutique small-ship cruising, offering unique itineraries that take travelers deeper into the destinations they visit. The company continues to expand its presence while remaining true to its Greek maritime roots, making every voyage an authentic adventure.
The prestigious Lloyd’s List Passenger Line Award is a testament to Variety Cruises’ innovative approach to shipping and its commitment to promoting Greece as a leading global destination for iconic travel experiences.
Variety Cruises is a third-generation family business, awarded as a pioneer in small ship cruising, and operates a fleet of eight boutique vessels, each SOLAS certified to accommodate approximately 50 guests. In 2024, Variety Cruises celebrated our 75th anniversary, and the year ended with a significant achievement, receiving the Passenger Line of the Year award at the Greek Shipping Awards 2024 from Lloyd’s List.
To this day, Variety Cruises’ goal remains to offer 7-day cruises (7-day adventures by small ship) that enrich the lives of travelers, who have the opportunity, thanks to our small ships, to go “deeper” to the destination.
By “deeper” we mean that the ships can dock in smaller ports, on lesser-known and touristy islands, such as Kalymnos or Lipsi, islands that the average traveler would find difficult to visit in any other way.
Due to the small size, the environment is more familiar and passengers have the opportunity to get to know their fellow travelers more easily, as well as the crew offering more direct personalized service.
Variety Cruises offers cruises to Greece, Italy/Malta, Croatia/Slovenia/Albania, Cape Verde, West Africa, Seychelles, and Tahiti.
