Α branch of the Cervantes Institute will be established at the city of Thessaloniki after a signing held on Monday in Athens by visiting Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya, the director of the Institute Cristina Conde de Beroldingen Geyr, and Chairman of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki David Saltiel, ANA reports.
The pact, signed at the Athens headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, will also promote the reconnection of children and young students of Thessaloniki’s Sephardic Community with their language of origin, Spanish Hebrew. Some 1,200 Sephardic Jews live in Thessaloniki currently, said the Institute in a statement.
