No damages from 5.7 Richter earthquake 48 km southwest of Greek island of Crete

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was recorded on Wednesday at 07:08 in the sea region 48 km southwest of Crete, the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens said, according to ANA.

Τhe 5.7 on the Richter scale earthquake recorded earlier on Wednesday in the sea region of the island of Crete should not worry us as it belongs to a special category of earthquakes, known as intermediate-depth earthquakes, Professor of Geophysics, president of the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Costas Papazachos, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.
