The Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis, in his message, refers to the loss of the Honorary, first President of SETE, tourism entrepreneur Spyros Kokotos:
It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Spyros Kokotos, an emblematic figure who, with his vision and pioneering spirit, determined the course of tourism, not only for Crete but also for the whole of Greece.
For our country, and especially for Elounda, he was the man who envisioned and implemented the concept of luxury tourism, elevating it to a world-famous destination. His work, however, was not limited to the narrow boundaries of Crete. As founder and first president of SETE, he managed to unite the forces of Greek tourism, laying the foundations for the qualitative upgrade of our national tourism product.
The legacy he leaves behind is precious and his absence irreplaceable. I express my sincere condolences to his family.
