The GNTO Service for the UK & Ireland participated for the third consecutive year in the workshop on sustainability in tourism “TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes”, organized annually in London by the British professional platform TTG.
Every year, 20 tour operators from Great Britain attend this specific sustainability program in order to obtain the title of Sustainable Travel Ambassador, as TTG, a popular professional magazine that addresses more than 10,000 subscribers, mainly tour operators and professionals in the British tourism market, is a B Corp company as it promotes actions that enhance responsible and sustainable tourism.
The head of this specific GNTO service, Eleni Skarveli, presented to the participating tour operators the renewed SustainableGreece.co.uk platform, with additional sustainable experiences and holiday suggestions, which promote the positive image of Greece in a new and innovative way, while actively strengthening sustainable development through targeted promotional actions for Greek destinations.
The aim of the GNTO’s participation in “TTG Sustainable Travel Heroes” is to inform tour operators, as well as the wider professional audience of TTG, about the targeted promotional initiative “Sustainable Greece” and the sustainability actions implemented in Greek destinations, with the aim of collecting and transferring relevant information to the sustainability-conscious British traveler.

It is noted that, according to a recent survey by ABTA, the public is increasingly attaching importance to holidays for a good cause and is more interested in choices that are consistent with the principles of sustainable development, while in particular the desire of British travelers to travel more responsibly and to limit their environmental footprint as much as possible is constantly increasing, with the sustainability factor now constituting one of the main criteria for choosing their vacation destination.
Next October, the Greek National Tourist Organization Service U. Basilio & Ireland will organize, in collaboration with EasyJet Holidays and the NGO Planeterra, a family trip to Crete for the agents who participated in this year’s TTG action, so that they can experience the sustainable experiences of the destination firsthand and include them in their clientele.
