Three Greek beaches among the world’s 50 best – Triumph for the Ionian

Greece once again confirms its reputation as a global destination of unparalleled natural beauty, with three of its beaches occupying prominent positions in this year’s list of the international institution “The World’s 50 Best Beaches”. The annual ranking, published based on reviews from travel experts, influencers and tourists from around the world, highlights the most impressive and authentic beaches worldwide – and this year, the Ionian Sea is the star.

In 4th place on the global list is Fteri beach in Kefalonia (photo), a secluded and imposing corner of the island, accessible only by boat or by hiking on a difficult path. Surrounded by spectacular white cliffs and bathed in the crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, Fteri stands out for its pristine beauty and the sense of serenity it offers to anyone seeking authentic contact with nature.

In 16th place, Voutoumi Beach in Antipaxos (photo) emerges as one of Greece’s best-kept secrets. With its crystal-clear, shallow waters and idyllic composition of fine sand and pebbles, the beach combines tranquility with Mediterranean aesthetics, while access only by sea ensures its authenticity.

Finally, in 36th place, the iconic Porto Katsiki beach in Lefkada (photo) continues to captivate international visitors with its impressive, steep limestone cliffs, aromatic plants and characteristic turquoise waters that make it one of the most iconic coasts of the Mediterranean.

The presence of three Greek beaches among the world’s top beaches not only confirms the tourist potential of the Ionian Sea, but also strengthens the international visibility of Greece as a destination that combines natural beauty, authenticity and serenity – characteristics increasingly sought after in the new era of quality tourism.

  • The 50 best beaches in Europe also include the beaches of Elafonisi, Balos, and Elia in Mykonos.
