Accor wins global sustainable travel & hospitality award

Accor has been named the winner of the World’s Leading Climate Action Initiative category at this year’s World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards (WSTHA) 2025, for its ambitious “Achieving Net Zero Together” program, which aims to drastically reduce carbon emissions in the group’s supply chain.

The WSTHA awards, organized by the World Travel Awards in partnership with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, honor businesses and organizations that promote sustainability and accelerate the global tourism transition to more sustainable practices.

Investing in action, not just commitment
The “Achieving Net Zero Together” program, launched in 2024, addresses one of the biggest challenges for businesses in the industry: reducing emissions from suppliers (Scope 3), in an environment where partner maturity and the availability of reliable data remain limited.

The initiative is based on three pillars:

  • Assessing the “carbon maturity” of suppliers.
  • Reducing emissions in the supply chain through targeted actions.
  • Promoting “low-carbon” products and suppliers, which support the group’s overall goal of net zero emissions.

To implement the program, Accor has developed internal tools and frameworks that help buyers and suppliers design personalized decarbonization plans, focusing on practical implementation rather than just theoretical progress reporting.

1,000 suppliers involved – 77% of purchases covered
More than 1,000 suppliers are already actively participating in the program, covering 77% of Accor’s total procurement volume, demonstrating the momentum and scope of the initiative.
The group’s partners have given particularly positive feedback, recognizing the benefits of the approach that prioritizes collaboration and the creation of realistic action plans.

The success of the program also contributed to Accor’s distinction as a “CDP Supplier Engagement Leader”, placing the group in the top 6% of companies worldwide in terms of supplier engagement on climate.

“From ambition to action”
Caroline Tissot, the group’s Chief Procurement Officer, said:
“This distinction recognizes our commitment to turning ambition into action. With the Achieving Net Zero Together program, we and our partners are making real progress towards net zero. Our approach is different, as we focus on action rather than reporting and promote direct meetings between Accor category managers and suppliers. To receive this recognition in the first year is a testament to our collective effort towards a common goal.”

WSTHA Awards 2025
The World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards recognize leaders and organizations that are making a measurable impact on the sustainability of tourism. This year’s event saw over 700 nominations, double the number in 2024, with the judging process supported by academic institutions such as the Nova School of Business and Economics and an independent industry advisory board.

WSTHA partners and members represent more than 66,000 hotels, 8 million rooms, 300 brands and 100 supply chains worldwide.
The awards ceremony was held on October 29, 2025.
