Train service between Athens and Thessaloniki in both directions will operate through the weekend (Nov. 7 and 8) despite the lockdown, TrainOSE announced on Friday, in order to accommodate high demand, ANA reports.
After a coronavirus-related lockdown from November 7 to 30, TrainOSE said that it will run five Intercity trains in each direction from Friday through Sunday, for passengers allowed to travel between prefectures during the restrictions.
Following the lockdown, TrainOSE will amend the schedule between Greece’s two largest cities as follows: As of Monday (Nov. 9), only train numbers 52, 56, 53, and 57 will run while all others are suspended.
In terms of suburban schedules, TrainOSE also said that as of Saturday (Nov. 7), the only schedules that will continue to operate normally throughout the lockdown are between the following cities, in both directions:
? Athens-Chalkida
? Piraeus-Airport
? Airport-Ano Liossia
? Koropi-Ano Liossia
? Piraeus-Kiato
? Agios Andreas-Rio (including buses connecting to the Hospital and Agios Vassilios)
? Agios Andreas-Kaminia
? Athens-Kalabaka (only schedules 884, 885)
? Alexandroupolis-Ormenio (1682, 1683 only Monday-Friday)
? Thessaloniki-Florina (83, 84)
? Thessaloniki-Larissa (1590, 1591, 1592, 1593, 2592, 2593, 2594, 2595)
TrainOSE added that the Kiato-Patras buses (specific lines: L 7, 11, 19, 25, 8, 12, 20, 26) will continue to operate.
Any schedules that are not included are suspended, it said, adding that more information is available by calling 14511 or visiting www.trainose.gr.
