Greece’s Infrastructure & Transport Minister Christos Staikouras spoke about the significance of constructing and maintaining modern motorways for the country’s economic development, the creation of new jobs, better road safety, but also social cohesion, at the International Bridge, Tunnel & Turnpike Association (IBTTA) 2023 IBTTA Tolling Summit that is being organized in Athens on Monday, ANA reports.
Staikouras stressed Greece’s progress in motorway construction over the last 25 years, by developing a network of “road arteries with a total length of 2,500km, with toll stations and more than 300km of tunnels and bridges.”
Finally, he made a special reference to the interoperability of electronic tolls in Greece that has been fully implemented over the last three years, allowing drivers on all motorways with only one transceiver.
