No ferry service in Greece on May 16-17 due to PNO strike

The Greek Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has declared a 48-hour strike in all ship categories starting from from 00:01 on Tuesday, May 16, until 24:00 on Wednesday, May 17 and warned that the two-day strike may herald the beginning of a rolling programme of industrial action.

The labor union is demanding that labor and social security rights are restored to pre-memorandum levels and that collective labor agreements will be agreed for workers of all categories of ships for 2017.

According to PNO’s announcement, Greek seamen are protesting against uninsured labor and unemployment rise in their sector as well as the collapse of labor relations and social security rights.

Passengers that have booked ferry tickets are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information. Those travellers whose trip is cancelled due to the strike are entitled to a full refund of their ticket.
