Strong winds in Greece's Aegean Sea keep ships at ports

Strong south winds measuring 8 or 9 on the Beaufort scale have interrupted several sailings in Greece as of Thursday, according to ANA.

Hydrofoils were tied at central Piraeus port all day, while the Agia Marina-Nea Styra (Attica-Evia island) line was also cancelled.

“Marmari Express”, running between Kea island and Lavrio on the mainland, also remains docked.

In northern Greece, the ferry service  between Kavala on the mainland and Prinos on Thassos Island was cancelled.

Schedules in the Ionian sea, nevertheless, ran as usual. In particular, the ships running between Kyllini on the Peloponnese and Zakynthos or Cephalonia operated as normal, as did those connecting Igoumenitsa on the mainland and Lefkimi, on Corfu island.
