The Greek government has earmarked financial support worth 20 million euros to coastal shipping companies, acknowledging the sector’s crucial role in the supply and transfer of passengers and goods of the country’s islands, ANA reports.
In a joint ministerial decision published in the government’s gazette, the Shipping and Island Policy ministry noted that this money will be offered to coastal shipping companies signing public service contracts to offer free coastal and ferry lines services by December 31, 2020.
