Yachting and Maritime Tourism festival at Alimos marina this week

The inaugural Yachting & Maritime Tourism festival was held on Thursday at the Alimos marina in coastal southeast Athens, organized by the Greek Professional Bare Boat Yacht Owners Association (SITESAP)  and the Mact Media Group.

The marina, which is slated as among a handful in Greece up for privatization and is one of the largest in the country as well as a base for professional pleasure vessels in the greater Athens area.

The Association  was founded in 1996 to represent Professional Yacht Owners without crew as well as promoting the Greek Yachting industry.It currently represents approximately 500 members and 1300 professional yachts up to 20 meters in length. It is represented throughout Greece by selected members.These professional sailing yachts today constitute the main fleet of Marine Tourism in Greece, attracting many tourists from around the world and supporting financially a wide range of businesses in small and forgotten islands with remote transportation or none at all.The professional members of the sector with their continuous efforts to maintain high standards have positioned Greece at the top of the international list of marine tourism destinations, proposing alternative, environmentally friendly vacations.In order to powerfully promote Greek Yachting throughout the world, SITESAP continuously organizes public events and intervenes in local and national authorities.
