Modernization aid for the marinas of Symi and Messolonghi

The Ministry of Tourism has approved applications for investment project support for the upgrade of tourist ports in Symi and Messolonghi, within the framework of the Tourism Development action of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is co-financed by the European Union -NextGeneration EU.

The purpose of the upgrade is for the tourist port to be either a sports infrastructure, in the sense that it will host sports clubs, or a multifunctional infrastructure, in the sense that it will offer more than one service, excluding amusement parks and hotels, for example, sports, cultural and tourism activities.

Among other things, the investment plans that have been submitted include the construction and modernization of facilities, the automation of parking spaces, ensuring access for people with disabilities, the installation of equipment, environmental protection systems, etc.

In particular, the Ministry of Tourism approved the application for support for the investment plan of the company FYLY YACHTING AND TRAVEL SINGLE-MEMBER PRIVATE CAPITAL COMPANY, for the upgrade of the tourist port at Pedi in Symi. The approved total budget of the project amounts to 773,475.20 euros, of which 596,701.60 euros are public expenditure and the remaining amount is private expenditure.

At the same time, the Ministry of Tourism approved the application for support for the investment plan of the company MARINA MESSOLONGI TOURIST PORT OPERATION S.A., for the upgrade of the tourist port of Messolonghi. The approved total budget of the project amounts to 2,747,999 euros, of which 2,198,399.20 euros are public expenditure and the remaining amount is private expenditure.

It is noted that, according to the decision, in the event of non-compliance with the investment implementation schedule and the expiry of a deadline during which the beneficiary has not informed the investment monitoring bodies about its progress and has not requested a duly justified extension, the investment is considered abandoned, the inclusion decision is revoked and any aid paid is sought.

Finally, the end date of the marina upgrade and modernization projects is December 31, 2025.
