State aid of up to 10 million euros for the upgrade of tourist ports

The total amount of investment projects that will be included in the state aid program “Upgrade of Tourist Ports” of the “Tourism Development” Action of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan will range from 500,000 to 10 million euros, with classifications per category of tourist port (marinas, shelters and anchorages).

More specifically, according to the Decision of the Ministry of Tourism for the 5th amendment of the relevant announcement, the total amount of the investment projects will be as follows:

– for marinas from 500,000 euros to 10 million euros

– for shelters and ports of article 35 and 35 A of law 2160/1993 from 500,000 euros to 6 million euros

– for anchorages from 500,000 euros to 3 million euros.

Eligible for inclusion are tourist ports for pleasure boats, tourist port infrastructures and facilities governed by the provisions of Law 2160/93, distinguished into marinas, shelters, anchorages and ports of Article 35 and 35 A of Law 2160/1993, regardless of the time and status of their creation, provided that they either constitute sports infrastructure (host sports clubs) or multifunctional infrastructures, in the sense that they offer more than one service, excluding amusement parks and hotels (e.g. sports, cultural, tourism activities).

The first request for payment of the aid is submitted by 31/12/2025. A request for extension for reasons of force majeure is examined specifically and on a case-by-case basis. Each beneficiary has the possibility of submitting requests for the payment of the aid with a minimum implementation rate of 10% of the approved budget (does not apply to beneficiaries of legal entities).

The procedure for assigning the amount of the grant is completed within a period of 9 months from the acceptance of the aid approval decision.

No later than 31 December 2025, the beneficiaries proceed to start work and submit an application for payment of the aid to the implementing body. Otherwise, they must renounce the implementation of the investment, otherwise the approval decision will be revoked.

The call will start with its publication, while its completion cannot exceed 30 April 2026 with the possibility of a one-month extension that will be granted, either for reasons of force majeure, or following a special justification. In any case, the deadline for submitting the last application for payment of the aid does not exceed April 30, 2026.
