Hellenic Seaways announced that it would be interested in establishing ferry routes from Izmir to the Greek islands and Thessaloniki, under the right conditions on the part of Turkish port authorities.
The company participated in an event organised in Izmir by the Northern Aegean Regional Authority and the local chamber of commerce, with support from the Greek Consulate and the Greek National Tourism Organisation.
During the event, representatives of Hellenic Seaways presented a complete transportation network that would cover the needs of both countries.
Comprehensive transport network
According to Hellenic Seaways, the Turkish port authorities must provide favorable and appropriate conditions in order for the routes to launch.
Izmir Chamber President Ekrem Demirtas assured that he would work towards eliminating any existing obstacles in order to service travellers from both countries.
The event aimed at informing Turkish agencies about the prospects of offering visitors a comprehensive transport network covering regions in both Greece and Turkey.
